FPSC’s inclusive theatre for children was born in August 2014 in Za’atari Camp<\/a>. Co-led and supported by a group of Syrian volunteers -both men and women, some of them with diagnosed disabilities- this is a theatre group that aims to tackle marginalisation, bullying, self-exclusion and isolation of persons with disabilities; to change the attitudes of society towards the importance of inclusion, contribution and empowerment of every person; and to inspire hope that every person can play a positive role in society.<\/p>\n

Every week, a team of 6 Syrian volunteers leads 12 boys and girls aged between 8 and 16. Some of them use wheelchairs; others have Down syndrome; some others have severe learning difficulties; and some Cerebral Paralysis; but all of them participate, as much as they can,\u00a0 in the games and activities, contributing with their ideas and responses to our creative projects, also taking their own specific role in our performances.<\/p>\n

The space we want to create is a positive one of inclusion and encouragement where every single person is valued for who he\/she is, wants to be and can be. We aim to support the children in their creative and social development; to teach them new creative skills in theatre, music and art; and to develop their abilities to interact, communicate, work in a team, and take on an active role in supporting and including everyone else in our group.<\/p>\n

Our performances also aim to show ourselves, the community and the world what each one of us can do, promoting the positive, creative role that every person, including those ones\u00a0 with disabilities, can take to make our world a better and more beautiful place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
