During these years, the country has been destroyed and millions of families forced to leave their homes in a conflict where the civilian population has been a military target and has generated an unprecedented humanitarian drama since World War II.<\/p>\n
Despite the longing for peace and return to their cities and their houses, the devastating situation in which they have remained, prevents it.<\/p>\n
The victims are millions of families, like ours, forced to flee the conflict.<\/p>\n
According to UNHCR data, three out of four Syrians have been forced to flee their homes, of which 73% are women and children. Currently there are 6.3 million internally displaced persons in their country and 4.9 million refugees in neighboring countries such as Turkey (2.91 million), Lebanon (1 million) or Jordan (656,000).<\/p>\n
What is FPSC’s work with Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon?<\/strong><\/p>\n The FPSC works in these neighboring countries and its Humanitarian Aid<\/strong> actions are directed mainly at the most vulnerable groups, minors, people with disabilities, the elderly, women and minorities, because they are the most affected by the consequences of armed conflicts.<\/p>\n At present, in the refugee camps of Jordan (Za’atari and Azraq)<\/strong> in the north of the country (where the FPSC is the only Spanish NGO), actions prioritize refugees with disabilities, with special attention to women and children<\/strong>, through personalized medical care, distribution and maintenance of mobility aids (from canes and crutches to wheelchairs and orthopaedic devices); inclusive activities and awareness of the reality and rights of persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n In Lebanon<\/strong>, we work with refugees and their families who need psychiatric or psychological support <\/strong>because of the harsh circumstances they have gone through and the situation in which they live.
