In November Social Promotion launched Youth Mun Madrid (YMM)<\/a>, with the aim of awakening interest in the United Nations Models among young women at school age in the Community of Madrid, and to create future women leaders.<\/p>\n

Through this formative experience, the young women will learn different techniques of debate and negotiation, representing member countries of the UN, and will try to find solutions to concrete problems that are part of the international agenda.<\/p>\n

In addition, through participation in simulations based on United Nations Models (MUN), the young women will acquire skills such as Investigate and analyze information; discuss and negotiate as a group; speak with confidence in public; take on greater responsibility for the world’s problems; interact with people from different cultures; or speak and write in English more fluently.<\/p>\n

Last December, the 64 young women participating in this project were selected, and in January the activities began with a program that lasts until July 2018.<\/p>\n

Thus, on January 13 there was a session on leadership and introduction to the MUN models, given by volunteers from the Association for the United Nations in Spain (ANUE). Later, during the days 26 to 28 of that same month, the YMM young women, as observers, and along with many other students from schools throughout Spain, participated in MUN Bilbao, organized under the theme of the 17 Development Goals Sustainable established by the United Nations; an occasion that offered them the opportunity to know and discover how this type of MUN congresses works.<\/p>\n

During the month of February, the training has continued, with two sessions held on days 3 and 24, given by the Association for the United Nations in Spain (ANUE). During them, it was delved into theoretical issues such as the Human Rights Committee, the rules of procedure, the oratory and negotiation techniques, or how to do a good investigation of the subjects, a working paper and a resolution; practical exercises were carried out through simulations.<\/p>\n

During the months of March, April, May, June and July, more activities are planned, which will help to continue training future women leaders and continue developing this exciting project.<\/p>\n
