During the month of January, the Youth Mun Madrid (YMM)<\/a> <\/strong>initiative has continued with its agenda to empower the leaders of tomorrow through the United Nations Model.<\/p>\n

Thus, last Saturday, January 12, took place its second training session<\/strong>, both in Madrid and in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. During the event, more than 70 young people participated in United Nations drills on topics such as the use of weapons of mass destruction and the empowerment of women in post-conflict zones, and in a workshop entitled ’10 tips for speaking like a Ted Talk pro’, taught by professionals of Education First (EF). In addition, the mentors had a meeting to determine how to advise this group of young people to be leaders able to impact their environment.<\/p>\n

This training session also served as a framework to prepare Mun Bilbao, which took place from January 24 to 27, with the participation of 43 young women of Youth Mun Madrid.<\/p>\n

This edition of Mun Bilbao<\/strong> has brought together 437 young people from 8 nationalities for a simulation of the United Nations.\u00a0For four days, students from Spain, France, the United States, England, Belgium, Germany, Albania, the Czech Republic and Cameroon have taken on the role of ambassadors and delegates from the UN member states and have worked on different committees, approving resolutions that will be sent to the UN headquarters in New York. In addition, this year, just like last year, the Arctic Council has also had its own Conference.<\/p>\n

A group of young women from the MUN program of the Social Promotion Foundation have represented as delegates the countries of Lebanon, Belgium and the Republic of Korea. Carmen Bouza and Alejandra Serrano have won the prize for outstanding delegates in the Human Rights and Disarmament and International Security committees.
