It has been more than five years since the entry into force of Resolution 1701 of the Security Council of United Nations, ending the armed conflict between the IDF and the armed wing of the Shiite organization Hezbollah. It began on August 14, 2006. Lebanon, in particular the territory lying south of the Litani River, was heavily damaged by more than a month of intense bombing, in addition to damage to the population, led to a serious deterioration in farmland and livestock sectors account for 70% of family income in this region.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Against this background, the FPSC and AECID initiated a cooperation agreement to support the improvement of the productive capacity of the agricultural sector of southern Lebanon, through the construction of infrastructure, training of farmers, strengthening their associations and the improvement and rationalization of production systems and marketing.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since then, AECID and FPSC have worked together with the Lebanese associations Ren\u00e9 Moawad Foundation (RMF), Arcenciel (AEC) and Association for Rural Development (ADR) in a multitude of activities that have led to the training of farmers and ranchers, the organization and equipment of agricultural cooperatives, installation of irrigation systems in arid lands, the launch of a stamp of quality food products, construction or rehabilitation of facilities such as a milk collection center, a mill, a pool, a packing plant several greenhouses for vegetables or herbs …<\/p>\n

After 42 months of implementation of the Convention, the FPSC now invited all Lebanese professionals trained to evaluate the impact of these activities to submit an application.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The evaluation of this Convention will be held in the months of June and July 2012, and the results and recommendations arising from the study by Lebanese evaluation team will be considered in the next FPSC interventions in the agricultural sector in Lebanon interventions that will most likely through the Ministry of Agriculture of Lebanon, who has shown interest in our past activities and willingness to work together in our future activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
