In the framework of the MADAD Project: \u201cReducing Economic Barriers to Accessing Health Services in Lebanon (REBAHS)\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n An important need identified by the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)<\/em> Working Group was the empowerment of professionals to adequately intervene and support people who are experiencing an emotional crisis, regardless of the underlying factors that have led to this crisis.<\/p>\n An emotional crisis is often triggered by unmet needs, such as people’s inability to access food, housing, health services, employment, education, etc. When emotional crisis situations are not properly managed, they can put the person or their environment at risk of harm. This can and should be avoided if staff are properly trained to respond to such situations.<\/p>\n This emotional crisis management protocol<\/strong> aims to provide guidance to frontliners on best practices to help people in emotional crisis to reduce their level of arousal and reach a healthy state of interaction where positive decisions can be taken.<\/p>\n It is a set of guidelines and practical advice for engaging people in crisis in a safe manner, determining their most pressing concern and activating the mechanisms that can most appropriately address that concern.<\/p>\n Throughout the protocol, frontliners are also invited to know and manage their own personal triggers and warning signs that may challenge the management of a crisis. As NMHP comments, this manual will bring us closer to “all people living in Lebanon having the opportunity to enjoy the best possible mental health and well-being.”<\/em><\/p>\n 2- The \u201cECM Training Report\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, is a compendium of Training of Trainers (ToT) on emotional crisis management (ECM) that is designed to develop participants’ skills and be able to train frontline humanitarian personnel on how best to help people who are in a state of emotional crisis.<\/p>\n This training provides an understanding of emotional crisis events, related risk factors, warning signs, early intervention measures and self-management tips.<\/p>\n It also describes the mechanism for involving people in crisis in a safe and supportive manner (de-escalation techniques), identifying personal triggers and priority concerns, and activating important workplace policies to prevent future emotional crises.<\/p>\n 3- The deliverable “ECM Roll-Out Sessions Report”<\/strong><\/a> is a report that covers ECM Roll-Out Sessions (ROS) where the knowledge and skills are provided to mental health professionals so that they can apply the ECM protocol.<\/p>\n 4- The deliverable “PM+ Training Report”<\/strong><\/a> is a compendium of the Training of Trainers (ToT) on Problem Management + (PM+) to mental health professionals by the Social Promotion Foundation team in Lebanon.<\/p>\n The objective of the ToT in PM+ is to provide knowledge, skills and materials that qualify mental health professionals to conduct PM+ sessions by themselves within their own organisations and professional activity.<\/p>\n PM+ is considered one of the first intervention programs developed by WHO within the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP), with the aim of reducing the gap between the need for mental health services and the limited number of available professionals who can meet this need.<\/p>\n The program focuses on shifting low-intensity interventions from highly skilled professionals to assistants with little or no clinical experience to expand access to needed services.<\/p>\n 5- The “PM+ Roll-out Sessions Report”<\/strong><\/a> is a document of Roll-out Sessions (ROS) on Problem Management + (PM+) trainings for mental health professionals.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the framework of the MADAD Project: \u201cImproving access to quality health care for people with disabilities in Lebanon\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n People with disabilities (PwD) generally have more health care needs than others, those that are common to all and those linked to specific underlying health conditions. They are more susceptible to worsening health and, as a result, need health care services more often.<\/p>\n In Lebanon, all PwD face increased vulnerability due to the impact caused by inaccessible health services. At the same time, since they face greater barriers to accessing services, PwD have a decreasing acceptance of general and specialised health services when needed.<\/p>\n The report by the Social Promotion Foundation aimed to examine access to and use of health services by PwD in Lebanon and characterize the barriers they face.<\/p>\n The study included a quantitative survey of 1,055 Lebanese PwD and Syrian refugees along with 14 focus groups. Disability and geographic diversity were taken into account to ensure the inclusion of a wide range of experiences. In addition, 8 semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted with key stakeholders and disability experts to better understand the overall system by which health services are provided to PwD in Lebanon.<\/p>\n 2- The “Disability Training Material Report”<\/strong><\/a>, available only in Arabic, is a guide to a comprehensive approach to current inclusive disability and health services in Lebanon. This guide urges the promotion of the process of obtaining rights for persons with disabilities and the implementation of international conventions. 1- The study “Disability and Health Situational Analysis Report in Lebanon 2019-2020”<\/strong>, with English<\/a> and Arabic<\/a> versions, was conducted by the Foundation in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA)<\/a> and the partner International Medical Corps (IMC).<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/promocionsocial.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/HOME3-300x243.jpg\")
All the above reports\/deliverables were produced by the Foundation as part of the projects “Reducing economic barriers to access health services in Lebanon (REBAHS)”<\/a> and “Improving access to quality health services for people with disabilities in Lebanon”<\/a>. This intervention is financed by the European Union, through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis (MADAD Fund)<\/a>,\u00a0 which depends on the Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
