In the ‘new normal’ society needs more than ever young nonconformists, open to dialogue between cultures and capable of seeking joint solutions beyond their own borders<\/em><\/h3>\n

Youth MUN Madrid<\/a> held its annual conference<\/strong> on 18-20 September<\/strong>, which was scheduled for last April and had to be postponed due to the state of alarm.<\/p>\n

As it was held in person, this edition was totally adapted to the preventive measures of public health in the Community of Madrid in front of the COVID-19, for the safety of all the attendees: 50 young people of school age of different nationalities (Spanish, Iranian, Portuguese and Venezuelan). In addition, a group of young people from the Canary Islands participated virtually.<\/p>\n

The inauguration was held in the Senate <\/strong>in Madrid, and afterwards the committee sessions, led by university students, took place over the weekend in the Los Tilos School<\/strong> in Madrid.<\/p>\n

The Human Rights Commitee (UNHRC)<\/strong>, chaired by Anabel Herranz and co-chaired by Pablo Garc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez and Mar\u00eda Garc\u00eda Velando, dealt with the issues of Prisoners\u2019 rights and the condition of the prisons’ and `Youth and covid-19: Impacts on jobs, education, rights and mental well-being’.<\/p>\n

United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women)<\/strong>, chaired by Helen Souki and co-chaired by Alvaro Aranda, has had as its themes \u2018Ensuring safer and fairer workplaces for women’ and \u2018COVID-19 and conflict: Advancing women\u2019s meaningful participation in ceasefires and peace processes’.<\/p>\n

Finally, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)<\/strong>, chaired by Alejandro S\u00e1nchez and co-chaired by Pablo G\u00f3mez Saborit, addressed the themes of \u2018Communication Satellites and space as a resource’ and ‘Digital learning solutions in the post-Covid-19 era’.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
