The United Nations<\/strong> publishes the written statement made by Social Promotion Foundation<\/strong> for the 2021 High-level Segment (HLS) of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) (2021 ECOSOC High-level Segment)<\/a>, a UN body which this year also celebrates its 75th anniversary.<\/p>\n HLS 2021 will include the three-day High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2021<\/a> ministerial meeting convened under the auspices of ECOSOC, to be held from 13-15 July, and the one-day HLS “Strengthening ECOSOC on its 75th anniversary for a sustainable and resilient recovery of COVID-19 and advancing the 2030 Agenda” on Friday 16 July.<\/p>\n The written statement in English is published on page 237 of the document Written statements by NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC<\/a> accessible from the “Documentation” section of the 2021 ECOSOC High-level Segment website, and on the “Documentation & Inputs”<\/a> page of the 2021 High-level Political Forum.<\/p>\n Through this statement, the Foundation has sought to highlight the interdependence and interrelatedness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda and the need for collaborative work, in partnership and based on equitable inclusiveness to leave no one behind. This is where organised civil society has an unquestionable responsibility and is an important vector, supporting the capacity building of some and the empowerment of others and the policies and initiatives that emerge from states, addressing the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.<\/p>\n In the case of the Foundation, its experience, capacities and proximity, as well as that of the local partners with whom it works, to the most vulnerable communities, makes possible an informed knowledge of the context and a support capacity based on trust. Its recommendations include leveraging the necessary resources to implement actions aimed at sustainable and resilient economic, social and environmental recovery from the pandemic (SDG 17); supporting health centres and health workers to enable sustainable and sustained changes over time (SDG 3); promoting inclusiveness through projects that analyse the context from a gender perspective and ensure the full incorporation of women in decision-making processes in the private and public spheres that contribute to their socio-economic empowerment (SDG 5); support entrepreneurship and job training initiatives to reduce unemployment rates and the creation of economic and social fabric, with a focus on the youth population (SDG 8); Ensure access to nutritious food by increasing the productive capacity of family farming, and do so under a multidimensional approach that is respectful of the environment and the management of water resources, which in turn allows to combat hunger and generate surpluses that allow access to other goods (SDG 2, SDG 6, SDG 12 and SDG 13); and contribute to the diversification of livelihoods and the promotion of inclusive and sustainable economic growth of the most vulnerable population (SDG 1).<\/p>\n Social Promotion Foundation has general consultative status with ECOSOC of the United Nations since 2004, reserved for international NGOs whose scope of work covers most of the issues on the agenda of the Economic and Social Council and its subsidiary bodies and which have a wide geographical scope.<\/em><\/p>\n Consultative status offers NGOs access not only to ECOSOC, but also to its numerous subsidiary bodies, to the various UN human rights mechanisms, to special processes on small arms, and also to special events organised by the President of the General Assembly.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u00a9un.org The United Nations publishes the written statement made by Social Promotion Foundation for the 2021 High-level Segment (HLS) of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) (2021 ECOSOC High-level Segment), a UN body which this year also celebrates its 75th anniversary.
