On December 10, 2012, the FPSC team in Beirut, consisting of Alain Kiwan and Alberto Bocanegra, along with members of the Caritas Migrant Centre, moved to Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley to do a needs assessment of displaced Syrians there, to be able to verify firsthand the short comings and suffering to which they are subjected: pregnant women, children and the elderly all living in small shacks amid muddy terrain, without access to the smallest amount of sanitation and living in subhuman conditions that ignore the concept of dignity to which every human being is entitled.<\/p>\n

The FPSC, with funding from AECID, is currently responding to the emergency in Syria<\/a> through medical, psychosocial support and distribution of Non-Food Items (NFI) in Damascus, along with its counterpart Caritas Syria. At the same time, in partnership with Yadan bi Yad, and under the Convention “Improving the integration of disabled people in the Middle East through accessibility in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt”<\/a>, the Foundation is developing actions for disabled people in the city of Aleppo. In addition, the FPSC participates actively in the coordination of UNHCR emergency aid for Syrian refugees with CMCL, in order to be able to offer a response to the needs identified.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
