A future planted thousands of years ago<\/em>, is the theme for the celebration in 2013 of the International Year of Quinoa (IYQ), declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations in recognition of the Andean peoples who have preserved this unique culture as food for present and future generations through their traditional knowledge and practices of living in harmony with nature.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The aim of IYQ is to focus world attention on the role of quinoa and nutritional value, food security and poverty eradication, in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. <\/p>\n

The FPSC as FAO\u2019s strategically for the celebration of IYQ is committed to disseminating the activities carried out. To this end, the FPSC has appealed to members of the REDI network<\/a> to participate and promote activities related to the strategic objectives of this event. <\/p>\n

The first activity launched by REDI to this end, in collaboration with the FPSC, and sponsored by other institutions, is the call for a literary contest, open to all organizations in the network, with the name “Quinoa Stories” reward literary quality of those stories that show the values and benefits of production and consumption of that food.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
