FPSC\u2019s Project Coordinator in Lebanon, Alain Kiwan, was one of the selected candidates to participate in the UNESCO-CADMOS ToT workshop on INEE\u2019s Minimum standards from September 30 to June 4, in Beirut.<\/p>\n

UNESCO and Cadmos (Lebanese NGO) in collaboration with Osman Consulting from UK, organized this 5 days Trainer of trainers workshop, in response to the Syrian Humanitarian crisis that is affecting Lebanon, where more than 700,000 refugees have taken refuge.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The event joined 25 professionals from different local and International NGOs, Government institutions and private schools, to Mr Mostafa Osman (INEE leader trainer) and Dr Selim el Sayegh (Cadmos board director). The workshop provided the participants with training tools and methods to transmit the International Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) standards to staff members and teachers working in the education sector during crisis time, as the one the country is witnessing at the moment, with more than 225000 age school refugee children living across Lebanon.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The INEE Minimum Standards are the global consensus for good practice in meeting the educational rights and needs of people affected by disasters and crises in ways that assert the dignity of the affected population. The Standards were founded on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Dakar 2000 Education for All goals and the Sphere Project\u2019s Humanitarian Charter. Like Sphere, the standards are meant to be used as a capacity-building and training tool. INEE believes that they will also enhance accountability and predictability among humanitarian actors, and improve coordination among partners, including education authorities. It is the first step toward ensuring that education initiatives in emergency situations provide a solid and sound basis for post-conflict and disaster reconstruction.<\/p>\n
