Last September the project “Strengthening Hospital Mangunde for Improving the Health of Women and Children in Chibabava, Mozambique”<\/a> began, in order to improve primary health services for the population from Chibabava District, Southern Region Sofala (Mozambique).<\/p>\n

Sofala is the poorest region in Mozambique, which adversely affects the health, not only by the lack of health infrastructure, inadequate equipment and poor medical personnel training but also by a system of channelling water and poor sanitation, which causes many of the diseases affecting the population and adversely affects the operation and services offered by the Hospital Magunde to their patients, and everyday life of nearby homes.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the funding from the Nando Peretti Foundation, which for over 10 years has been working in different parts of the world supporting programs to promote human rights, defense and education of children, medical research, protection of the cultural and artistic heritages, the conservation of nature and environmental protection, and in partnership with the Asosciaci\u00f3n Esmabama, with which it has previously completed projects in the area of water resources management and education, in the region, the FPSC wants to contribute to improve this situation. <\/p>\n

To do this, for 12 months it will launch a series of activities to improve the rationalization of the system in water supply, since existing facilities cause a significant reduction in water pressure, which adversely affect the services provided by the Hospital Magunde, and the domestic use of the nearby houses. Thus, the hygienic conditions are enhanced. Also, it will properly equip the First Aid Unit of the Hospital, which was completed in 2013.<\/p>\n

These improvements will benefit 30,000 people, 60% of them women and children, which annually require medical assistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
