UN Women has already published the official documentation for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women<\/a> (CSW68), which includes written statements submitted by non-governmental organizations, such as Social Promotion Foundation, that have consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This 68th session will take place from March 11 to 22, 2024, and will address as a priority theme the need to “Accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following this line, Social Promotion Foundation highlights in its written statement<\/strong> (E\/CN.6\/2024\/NGO\/108<\/a>) the need to intensify efforts at the global level to achieve a world in which all women and girls have equal opportunities and can fully exercise their human rights. In this way, it warns of the challenges that exist in the current context and that hinder progress towards gender equality, as well as the amplifying effect that the COVID 19 pandemic has had on these inequalities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With more than three decades of experience in promoting sustainable development and gender equity and thanks to the work carried out by its Observatory of Women and Equality (OMEI),<\/a> the Foundation offers a series of specific proposals adopting a gender perspective in the face of the challenges posed by poverty eradication, institution building and financing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These proposals include equal access to education, the promotion of equality in employment and the active participation of women in decision-making, the reform of discriminatory laws and policies, awareness-raising and training, the allocation of budgets to programs and projects that promote equality, and the promotion of public-private partnerships focused on these goals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With these proposals for action, Social Promotion Foundation suggests that a solid framework can be built to address the challenges posed and encourage collaboration between the different actors involved (States, international organizations, civil society and the private sector) in order to achieve significant progress and the implementation of concrete measures that will make it possible to create a fairer and more equitable world for all people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
