On June 30, at 11:00 a.m., the Cervantes Institute in Amman hosted the presentation event of the project “Jordanian women and youth resilient in the face of poverty and multidimensional crisis promote an economic recovery free of violence”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project<\/a>, which is in its first months of implementation, is a second phase of a previous project<\/a> completed in December 2023, with which we managed to contribute to improving Jordanian women’s access to the labor market through training and the promotion of safe working environments.<\/p>\n

This new phase, which is again funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)<\/strong> with a contribution of \u20ac700,000, aims to expand the impact by supporting more women and youth with vocational training, entrepreneurship programs and essential services, contributing to the economic stability and sustainable development of their local communities. In doing so, the initiative will focus on improving access to decent employment for at least 160 women and youth in the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq and Karak, promoting employment, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.<\/p>\n

The presentation event brought together some of the protagonists who participated in the previous phase and who will also be part of the present phase, including both rights holders and holders of responsibilities and obligations. During the course of the event, they exchanged experiences on topics such as capacity building and skills of Jordanian women for employment and self-employment, economic and social empowerment tools, or inclusive access to the labor market for people with functional diversity in Jordan.<\/p>\n

Likewise, on behalf of our local partner, Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD)<\/strong>, its Program Director, Sameer Al-Attar, and its project technician, Duaa Al-Mufleh, highlighted the achievements of the previous phase and presented the objectives for this new stage, which will run until March 2026.<\/p>\n

For their part, Francesc Vila and Ioseba Amatriain, Program and Project Managers of AECID in Jordan, respectively, highlighted the challenges faced by women in the country in accessing the labor market, where their participation is still limited. In addition, they highlighted the importance of partnerships with non-profit organizations and the private sector to promote labor inclusion and women’s entrepreneurship skills, which are fundamental for their economic empowerment. Access to decent and secure income and jobs is one of the priorities of the Spain-Jordan Partnership Framework 2020-2024.<\/p>\n

Also present at the event were Amaa Al Nassan, a technician from the Jordanian Ministry of Labor, Haifa Haidar, evaluator of Phase I of the project, and Alejandro Seco, head of mission in Jordan for our Foundation.<\/p>\n

This new project consolidates the collaboration between the Foundation and JOHUD, reinforcing their joint efforts to support women and youth in vulnerable situations, and promoting a more inclusive and resilient economic environment in Jordan.<\/p>\n
