Youth Mun Madrid is a project for the transmission of values such as social responsibility, commitment and solidarity among young people in Madrid.<\/p>\n

More than 50 young women aged 15-18, from 9 youth associations in Madrid with which the Foundation collaborates, will be able to obtain a deep and critical vision of the serious global and social problems of their environment; acquire a committed attitude towards them; and debate together with other young people the causes and possible solutions.<\/p>\n

The Youth Mun Madrid project is based on the methodology of the United Nations models, also known as MUN (Model United Nations), which consists of simulations of the United Nations system carried out by young people who represent the different member countries and take part in debates and negotiations in which they deal with issues that correspond to the work programmes of the different United Nations bodies and commissions.<\/p>\n

In addition to learning about international policy issues and the workings of the United Nations, the young participants learn about the regulatory tools and attitudes needed to strengthen cooperation between countries. It also trains them in skills such as documentation, writing, public speaking, conflict resolution, consensus building, agreements and cooperation, and helps them to understand that dialogue and negotiation is the best way to resolve conflicts, without ever resorting to violence.<\/p>\n

The Youth Mun Madrid project will be implemented between January-June 2018, although it will be preceded by dissemination and communication activities carried out between October and December 2017. It is a comprehensive non-formal education project structured in three phases:<\/p>\n

The first phase, \u2018Awake\u2019, has as its main objective to awaken in young people a greater awareness of global realities and the desire to lead the change they require.<\/p>\n

The objective of the second phase, \u2018Lead\u2019, is to enable young people to acquire a critical view of these problems and to be able to dialogue and negotiate with other young people on possible solutions.<\/p>\n

Finally, during the third phase, \u2018Act\u2019, the young people will organise and lead the simulation of a Human Rights Council for the study and dialogue of the promotion and defence of human rights in current situations on the international agenda.<\/p>\n

In addition, to promote an active and transformative attitude, during this last phase each Youth Association will present a social project, designed by the young participants to respond to a social need detected in their immediate environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
