During the months of June and July, participants in our project that seeks to promote access to decent work, especially in the tourism sector, for people in vulnerable situations in Upper Egypt, funded by Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and implemented in consortium with our partner Association of Upper Egypt for Education and Development (AUEED), have received business training.
Through 4 sessions, each lasting 5 days, a total of 92 people have been able to address issues such as the basic components of entrepreneurship, based on the “canvas business model”; business planning; financial management and marketing. For what concerns this activity the target of participants was overachieved.
The first of these training sessions, in which 16 participants took part, was held from 6 to 10 June in Sohag City. Subsequent training sessions were held from 13 to 17 June in Luxor with 20 participants.
In July, training sessions were held in Luxor from 4 to 8 of July with 44 participants and in Assiut from 10 to 14 with 12 participants.
During the sessions held in Assiut on 13 July, Raquel Ferrando Sellers, representative of AECID, was accompanied by Ramy Yousef, fundraising officer at AUEED.
During the day, she had the opportunity to talk with the participants in the training and also to visit the bazaar with the products of some of them.
By the end of the 4 trainings the project is really close to hit another important target as 52 participants requested loans. The project has a target of 60 participants in total. 27 loans have been already disbursed to beneficiaries as of today.
