Food, medicine and water for Venezuela at Christmas

In Venezuela, the spread of COVID-19 and the measures of social distancing are severely aggravating the already fragile situation in the country, which is going through a deep crisis marked by hyperinflation, a very weak health system, lack of public services such as electricity, water, gas or internet, fuel shortages, unemployment, growing poverty, crime, human rights violations or drug trafficking.

In this context, the Social Promotion Foundation is collaborating with the Association of Art and Science (ASAC) with the humanitarian campaign “SOS Venezuela: food, medicine and water”.

This campaign aims to support two very specific needs: care for people in vulnerable situations in the metropolitan area of Caracas, by supplying food and medicine, and the construction of a well to ensure access to drinking water for the mainly indigenous population (Wayúu ethnic group) of El Palo, in the Mara municipality, who live in extreme poverty.

To collaborate with this campaign, the “Solidarity Christmas Tree” initiative has been set up to encourage donations of 10 euros for the purchase of a Christmas ball, and will be active until 31 December.
