Awareness Day on the rights of people with disabilities in Madaba

Last 11 November, the FPSC, in consortium with RESCATE, MPDL and APS, organized an awareness session on the rights of people with disabilities in the Hashemite Hall at the services committee building Field Madaba (Jordan) under the project that is currently underway in this Jordanian city.

It was attended by several personalities: Madaba Governorate authorities; Head of the OTC in Jordan, Vicente Ortega, who attended on behalf of the Ambassador of Spain, Santiago Cabanas; Staff of the Embassy of Spain in Amman; Madaba police chiefs; The representative of the UNHCR in Madaba, Rita Tarawneh; Princess Basma Foundation representatives; And members of the FPSC Consortium, RESCATE, MPDL and APS.

The event began at 11:30 a.m. with a welcome from the local coordinator of Rescate and then the head of the mission of the FPSC in Jordan, Maria Lopez de Haro after officially greeting guests and members of the audience, presented a report on the consortium, local partners and the services offered to refugees in Syria and to the local community. In addition, this information was collected in leaflets that were distributed to the audience with more detailed explanation.

The opening remarks were followed by a representation of a group of refugee children, who led by JRF sang some patriotic songs to Syria.
 
Next, the social workers of RESCATE and MPDL held a meeting to raise awareness of the services and protection of children they provide to the community of Madaba.

Then by the FPSC, Nermeen, physiotherapist and Mahmoud talked about the rights of people with disabilities and the many challenges and problems that this group faces. They also explained to the audience that, finally, the theatrical performance that was scheduled for this day ‘You, Me, Us, Together: The Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ could not be performed because the theater group “Syria Tomorrow” from the Syrian refugees camp of Za’atari, had failed to leave the premises for security reasons.

During the day, RESCATE in cooperation with FPSC, organized a painting workshop to make up the faces of the little ones with original designs.

The ceremony ended with refreshments for attendees.
