December 5th is International Volunteer Day, a day dedicated to all the people who dedicate their time to others, to create a more just and supportive world, and to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable.
Taking advantage of the tribute that all of them are given on this day, from the Social Promotion Foundation we want to thank very especially all the people who actively participate in our young women volunteering from associations and colleges in a volunteering that works with older people, childhood and people at risk of social exclusion.
We also want to thank the voluntary action of young professionals in Occupational Centers of the Community of Madrid; and in our Family Volunteer, with parents and children of the Madrid school ‘Las Tablas-Valverde’, in the residence of the Nuestra Señora del Camino Foundation. All of them dedicate their time to carry out leisure and free time activities together with people with intellectual disabilities; some meetings in which a unique atmosphere of coexistence is created, truly enriching for all.
During the month of December, voluntary activities of Social Promotion have intensified.
During the past weekend, volunteer families from Las Tablas Valverde School visited with friends of the Ntra. Señora del Camino residence a Living Bethlehem organized by the Edith Stein Parish. It was a very special occasion where everyone celebrated Christmas.
Young professionals accompanied a new group of volunteers in a Christmas period of leisure volunteering and accompaniment at the Barajas occupational center.
