FPSC promotes an inclusive theater activity in Za’atri

Everything started as an initiative of Arabella Lawson, British theater practitioner with experience in the Peckham Shed inclusive theater in London, with the support of the FPSC and participation of its cooperation volunteers in Jordan in order to create an inclusive theatre activity in Za’atri Refugee Camp.

The activity began in August, with the promotion of the activity in various districts of the camp. Those children interested in participating with their families attended the introductory sessions.

In turn, Arabella taught basic courses on theater techniques to several volunteers of the camp who wanted to participate as monitors for the children. This put up the theater workshop that takes place every Saturday morning.

For now there are 25 participants. During August several FPSC volunteers helped Arabella to organize sessions and accompanied her during the visits to various districts announcing the activity. The FPSC promotes this activity. Both Valentina Corona, Communication Officer of FPSC Jordan and Elijah Jatovsky, American FPSC volunteer in Jordan, are collaborating with Arabella, making videos and taking photos, updating the information on the activity at facebook, attending the Saturday sessions, designing action plans, trying to find ways of funding, etc.

FPSC has helped in designing the inclusive theater in Za’atri crowdfunding campaign as a means of financing the activity. It was just released, the expected duration is one month and the fundraising goal is 1,000 USD.
