During the month of February the FPSC took part in a radio program conducted by sixth grade students from the UVA neighbourhood of Hortaleza, it met residents with intellectual disabilities from the occupational centre of Nuestra Señora del Camino and participated in a workshop on social innovation in education with students of Teaching from the URJC University.
Last February 5, we were lucky to participate in the “The voice of the school” school radio program prepared, directed and presented in its entirety by sixth grade students of the San Miguel Public School, located in an area with social and marked economic difficulties. This activity has a very important educational and social component, and it has great acceptance among the kids.
Erwin, Arantxa, Almudena, Alessandro and Zheng Hao conducted an interview with our Director of Communication, José Luis Zatarain, on the Syrian war, the situation of refugees and the work of the foundation in the refugee camps of Za’atari and Azraq in the north of Jordan.

Also, on February 15, José Luis Zatarain participated in a workshop on social innovation in education: The Social Educational Impact for Human Rights, held in the auditorium of the campus of Fuenlabrada URJC.
Trainee teacher participating in this project will work on awareness-raising projects on the situation of refugees and in support of three NGOs working in this field: “Rescate”, “Red Acoge” and “FPSC”.
During the workshop, the three NGOs shared with the students the reality of the refugees and their work. Subsequently they worked with each team by the hands of their tutors.
Finally, on Friday, February 17, our communication director was with the residents of the Occupational Centre of Nuestra Señora del Camino Foundation, with intellectual disabilities to talk about Syria and the situation of refugees in neighbouring countries, as well as the work of the FPSC with persons with disabilities in refugee camps.
The whole session was very participative with a lot of questions from the residents. They showed great sensitivity to refugees and much interest in how their situation can be improved.
The FPSC carries out a family volunteering of leisure and accompaniment in this residence with families of Las Tablas Valverde School.
