Together with our local partner FUDI and with the support of the ADEY Foundation, we launched a new project in Tecpán, Guatemala, aimed at supporting the development of the Kaqchiquel community living in Chutzité.
Specifically, we will work to ensure their access to safe and balanced nutrition, focusing on improving the conditions, capacities, and opportunities for children to lead healthy and happy lives.
In this way, we will contribute to reducing malnutrition and its direct effects on children under 5 years of age and their families. To achieve this, it will be essential to foster better health and eating habits, as well as support initiatives that promote sustainable development and improve medical and nutritional care for children.
Project components
To achieve these objectives, efforts will be made to strengthen children’s health and nutrition capacities. In this regard, special attention will be paid to early stimulation processes to combat malnutrition, promoting training in health and nutrition and carrying out support actions for families.
Access to health services will also be improved for children under 5 years of age and pregnant women in the community. It is worth noting that homes will be equipped with eco-filters to provide access to purified water.
Finally, we will also promote families’ access to a varied, healthy and sustainable diet through training in new farming techniques and agricultural practices that also ensure environmental sustainability.
