Interview with Father Luis Montes IVE at FPSC headquarters on the situation of Christians persecuted in Iraq

The interview took place on November 14 during his visit to the headquarters of the FPSC in Madrid taking advantage of his visit to Spain on the occasion of his participation in the XVIII Catholics and Public Life Congress.

The FPSC through its #AShoutofEncouragement campaign works in favour of refugee Christian families mainly in the Virgin Mary Field in Baghdad and in other places such as Kurdistan and Syria.

Until few months ago Father Luis was the parish priest of the Baghdad Latin Cathedral “St. Joseph and Saint Therese of the Child Jesus” and we coordinated the help with him. He is now the Vicar of the Bishop of Latin Rite for Iraqi Kurdistan and we continue collaborating with him.

During the interview we wanted to know firsthand about the current situation of refugee Christians in Iraq in view of the counter-offensive that is being carried out against ISIS and after the recovery of villages from which they were forced to flee. He also told us about the urgent need for help to meet the basic needs of these families.

Finally Father Luis talked about the positive impact of the #noestaissolos FPSC Christmas campaign among these families last year, through which from Spain we sent these families thousands of Christmas video recording greetings in Arabic (Aid Milad Mayid) that they watched on Christmas Eve.
