On May 5, a conference organized by Casa Árabe and L’Œuvre d’Orient took place in which, together with its Director, Monsignor Pascal Gollnisch, the journalist, writer and collaborator of Cadena COPE, Fernando de Haro, and Jumana Trad, President of Social Promotion Foundation, participated.
After the welcoming words from the Director of Casa Árabe, Irene Lozano, Monsignor Gollnisch began his conference “Geopolitics of Eastern Christians: the current moment”. As part of his speech, he referred to the situation in Ukraine, which he had visited, and to the history of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
A table then began in which Monsignor Gollnisch, Fernando de Haro and Jumana Trad shared their extensive experience on the Middle East and the situation of Christians in the region.
Monsignor Gollnisch offered a vision of the reality of the Eastern Christians whom he referred to as artisans of Peace and warned that if they disappeared from the Middle East it would be an irreparable loss for their countries.
Jumana Trad commented on the situation in Lebanon and described it as an ecumenical and interreligious dialogue laboratory due to the number of religions and rites present. She further commented that Lebanon is the only Arab country with religious freedom.
Later he warned of the economic and political crisis in which Lebanon is plunged and that has broken the country.
They analyzed the role of Spain in supporting Eastern Christians in the dynamics of the global balance of the Mediterranean basin.
The roundtable was followed by a debate with the public present.
