The Agreement was aimed to improve the management of water resources for agricultural use in the depressed rural areas of Jordan and the Palestinian Territories, considering that efficient water management improves agricultural productivity and helps to guarantee food safety in these regions. The intervention was driven by the following lines of work:
- Creating and improving infrastructures and tools, with the aim of maximizing the productivity of the scarce water resources available.
- Training farmers in new agricultural techniques and in the maintenance of irrigation infrastructures.
- Strengthening the irrigators’ associations and promoting social participation in water management, through various training and awareness-raising activities.
