Women in Jordan contribute to resilience, economic recovery and the fight against poverty in response to COVID-19

The intervention aims to empower women to become autonomous and resilient in the face of crises such as COVID19, providing them with resources to get out of the situation of vulnerability and poverty, as well as to combat possible situations of violence.

To this end, the skills and abilities of young women, both Jordanians and Syrian refugees, with little or no family income and with limited opportunities to prosper, will be strengthened.

Likewise, work will be done with the private sector and chambers of commerce to obtain a product that links employability, decent work and a safe work environment free of violence for women. In addition, through the employability centers, agreements will be established with employers that require labor personnel.

Finally, with a joint work approach with local institutions with a national scope, workshops will be held in which to propose solutions and recommendations to lead to the negotiation of the new National Social Protection Strategy-NSPS. With direct access to institutions such as the JNCW, the discussion of these round tables towards the reform of regulations aimed at women building a status of resilience will be enriched. It will also have an international focus through the design of webinars, which will integrate other local entities in the Mediterranean region and women, as an opportunity to create networks and promote the expansion of this type of initiative, its learning and opportunities of impact.
