Currently, as a result of the political and economic instability in the area, it is unfeasible for many rural families in the Gaza Strip to maintain their small and medium-sized production units due to the destruction of farmland and greenhouses and the rising costs.
The project therefore aims to promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural initiatives that reduce the vulnerability of these families and improve their quality of life. The aim is to increase the productive capacity and improve the economic situation of farmers; and to achieve food security and sovereignty for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, reducing their dependence on the Israeli economy.
To this end, a number of activities are planned:
-Rehabilitation and cultivation of 150 dunums (15 hectares) with citrus and olive trees, as well as vegetables and seedlings, and 50 greenhouses.
-Training of farmers under a needs and rights-based approach.
-Creation of 1,600 work days to provide real job opportunities for 64 skilled and unskilled workers.
