Improving the living conditions of Syrian children with disabilities in Azraq and Za’atari refugee camps.

This project gives continuity to the activity that the Foundation has been developing with children with disabilities in the Syrian refugee camp of Za’atari and Azraq.

According to UNICEF, 3.3% of the children in the Za’atari camp have some kind of disability or chronic illness, caused by diseases such as spina bifida, hydrocephalus or cerebral palsy, which negatively affect mobility.

The four-month project includes the distribution of sports wheelchairs to enable the inclusion and participation of children and adolescents in socio-inclusive (and recreational) sports activities that increase their self-esteem and enable them to be the protagonists of their own lives. This self-sufficiency also helps to positively reverse the living conditions of the whole family, and plays a fundamental role in the children’s adaptation.
