Improvement of the living conditions of small farmers in Salfit, Palestine, through the right to access to water

The municipality of Salfit, located in the north of the West Bank, suffers a severe water shortage for domestic and agricultural use due to the Israeli wall partition. To remedy this situation and the consequent poverty in the region, the project envisages the rehabilitation of three springs and the flow of Al Matwi under an environmentally sustainable approach.

For this end, construction, rehabilitation and installation of water pumps in the Al Matwi spring will be carried out to increase the quantity and quality of its flow.

In addition, 40 “intelligent orchards” will be installed, which will contribute to the increase of the agricultural production of women farmers, who will also be trained in agricultural techniques.

The project also has a training component in good practices and water management, aimed at both technicians of the municipality and women farmers. Similarly, awareness-raising campaigns will be carried out in the local community, to raise awareness of the public.
