The Agreement to a draft the FPSC in Muketuri, North Shoa, Ethiopia is signed in the city of Alcobendas

Alcobendas City Council has signed agreements for cooperation projects grants in 2012.

Among the funded cooperation projects is the expansion of nutrition services and education in the motherhood center in Muketuri, North Shoa (Ethiopia) by the Foundation for the Social Promotion of Culture.

The agreement was signed by the Foundation for the Social Promotion of Culture by its General Secretary Ms. Monica Bohigues Cruañes.

Overall, 12 projects in the countries of Ethiopia, India, Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras and Madagascar, will be subsidized by the city of Alcobendas, in the form of access to clean water to combat child malnutrition, education and decent housing.

The FPSC’s new project in Ethiopia is focused on food security through rural development, particularly agriculture, through the implementation of adequate water infrastructure.

Water scarcity affects cyclical droughts that lead to power failures. As a result, the population, particularly children, have severe health and developmental disabilities, causing their depravation from other human rights such as education.

Improving the power infrastructure will be achieved by creating a side access to water systems, to produce food throughout the year. The region is green and mountainous, with abundant rains that provide very good opportunities for agriculture and livestock. The ability to access wáter resources throughout the year will allow for more diversified planting of vegetables essential for improving the local diet.

Furthermore, the balanced meals are served at a center that promotes students taking the opportunity to receive education. The women will receive training in nutrition and food preparation, and children will receive a primary education.
