Last weekend, the Cultural and Sports Association Almedina organized an Olympic Games in Almería under the motto Citius, Altius, Fortius (farther, higher, stronger), which in addition to strengthening and promoting sport and values such as effort , coexistence and teamwork, have provided the framework for a solidarity sale, promoting among young people a consciousness more engaged with the world around them.
In the 15th edition of this Olympic Games, held at an interval of two years, it has brought together more than 300 young girls, from primary to high school, to the Sports Pavilion El Toyo. 14 women’s clubs from all Spain have competed throughout the day on Saturday, in basketball, volleyball, paddle and athletics (relay race, speed, endurance and long jump).
After this sporting day, Sunday, November 1, a bazaar of fruits and vegetables was held, donated by agricultural collectives in the Plaza de Almería Victims of Terrorism. The market was aimed at supporting the campaign “Syria emergency call” that promotes the FPSC, by selling bags of vegetables at 1 €.
The amount raised was fully allocated to the emergency activity carried out by the Foundation in the camp of Za’atari (Jordan) to the attention of Syrian refugees with disabilities, especially children, through personalized attention, the provision of wheelchairs, orthopaedic devices and other technical helps.
From the FPSC we want to thank Almedina the organization of this sporting and charitable initiative and the generosity of all those who with their help have helped to boost the humanitarian work of the FPSC in the Syrian refugees camp in Jordan.
