On the occasion of the International Day of Disabled Persons celebration (December 3), the FPSC presented the photo exhibition “The Middle East humanitarian crisis in pictures: close up on Disability” inaugurated on Monday, December 15, at 19.30, in Arabic House (C / Alcalá, 62, Madrid).
This exhibition gathered graphic materials among which counted with 50 photographs and an audiovisual that had as protagonists people with disabilities in the Middle East, population particularly affected by the humanitarian crisis that the conflict in Syria has generated not only in this country, but throughout the region.
The exhibition aimed to be a witness to the harsh reality that people with disabilities face in the Middle East, as well as a show of support for their cause and to all those who are striving to improve their access to human rights in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt.
With funding from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID), the FPSC and its local partners, Arcenciel (AEC) in Lebanon, Yadan bi Yad (Yby) in Syria, Al Hussein Society (AHS) in Jordan and Coptic Evangelical Organization of Social Services (CEOSS) in Egypt intend to treat, under the Convention “Improving social integration of disabled people in the Middle East through accessibility” to improve inclusion and access for disabled people to all their rights through Humanitarian Aid and development actions such as:
- Provision of mobility aids
- Reduction of physical barriers
- Vocational training for access to employment
- Creating an Arabic / English portal for virtual services for people with disabilities in the Middle East
Also, in this context of crisis, the FPSC provides humanitarian aid to improve living conditions, particularly in the area of health of Syrian refugees with disabilities in Lebanon (Tripoli, Akkar, Beirut and Bekaa) and Jordan (Refugee Camp Za’atri, Amman, Ramtha, Karak and Ma’an).
