With the title “Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn. Education Jobs in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Palestinian Territories” the FPSC organized a conference at the Library of Eugenio Trias. Menagerie of El Retiro, on March 25.
The Conference was attended by the responsible persons in the field of the FPSC education agreements being developed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Palestinian Territories.
Macarena Cotelo Suils, Project Director of the FPSC opened and moderated the conference commenting on the importance to the Foundation’s work in education as a tool of change and development, presenting the two agreements in education in DR of Congo and the Palestinian Territories in which the content of the day would revolve around.

Emmanuelle Kapita Mba, Project Leader in the DR of Congo, began her speech with a video broadcast on the activity of the FPSC agreement.
She commented among other things, aspects relating to education in her country, on the importance that education has to reverse the current situation of a nation that suffers the consequences of war, mismanagement and corruption issues.
She presented the program that is being conducted with the Ministry of Primary, Secondary and Vocational Education (MEPSP) for improving the quality of education through teacher and Ministry staff training
In a special way, she reported on the inclusion of human rights among the subjects taught among teachers. Emmanuelle Kapita specializes in this area and is responsible in large measure for the impetus for this initiative.
She also informed about the tools available for teachers, specifically an online platform developed by the Spanish UNED.
Sofía S. Collantes, Chief of the FPSC Mission in the Palestinian Territories, began her speech with a video about the education agreement in that country.
She addressed the activity of the resource classrooms, the individual attention to children with special educational needs, the tutoring and supervision program Big Brother / Big Sister where the Faculty Education students help students with special social or educational needs, and the teachers exchange program in the Palestinian Territories and Jordan, giving them the opportunity to share experiences and strategies with colleagues from other countries.
On March 27 two other actions took place in the course of the FPSC awareness and education for development activity:
- Emmanuelle Kapita met the Residence Hall Zurbarán residents.
- Photographic material of development cooperation agreements that FPSC is currently developing in the Mater Amabilis School in Villa de Valllecas was exhibited as part of the Day of Solidarity organized. Miscellaneous material were distributed among the families participating.
