On Thursday, February 24, the Madrid Assembly hosted the Closing Ceremony of Global Classrooms Madrid 2022, an initiative that is in its 16th edition and has so far benefited more than 18,000 students.
Pablo García Rodríguez, volunteer and Ambassador of Youth MUN Madrid in 2021, was one of the invited speakers to share with the authorities, teachers and students present in the room this initiative of the Social Promotion Foundation that allows the young people of Global Classrooms to follow participating in experiences of leadership and intercultural dialogue.
Present at the event were Eugenia Carballedo Berlanga, President of the Madrid Assembly; Katherine Matles, Program Manager, Fulbright Commission in Spain; Mark Levy, Director of the English Programs of the British Council in Spain; Spencer Cryder, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the United States of America and Rocío Albert López-Ibor, Deputy Minister of Educational Policy of the Ministry of Education, Universities, Science and Spokesperson, among other authorities.
Impact of Youth MUN Madrid in the Community of Madrid
In the 2022 edition, Youth MUN Madrid has received the support of two public calls from the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Policy of the Regional Government of Madrid and Erasmus+, which allow further development and growth of the initiative..
Thanks to the support of Erasmus+, a greater role for the democratic institutions of the European Union and its member countries will be allowed in the activities of the program and in the Final Conference under the title ‘Next Youth Europe’.
On the other hand, the support of the Regional Government of Madrid for the initiative makes possible a technological improvement of the YMM online platform https://online.youthmunmadrid.com/ and greater access to the program for young people from Madrid.
In the 2021 edition, 40% of the students who participated in Youth MUN Madrid belonged to the Community of Madrid. A total of 151 students, 20 adult facilitators and 20 university volunteers. In 2022, a total of 350 students, 33 facilitators and 20 volunteers participate.
