HUmANITY
The Italian campaign “HUMANITY - Esse- re umani con gli esseri umani”, created in 2017, has continued this year its mission to help thousands of people fleeing the Syrian and Iraqi war, with emergency ac- tivities and long-term projects in Kurdis- tan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
HUMANITY is promoted by a consortium formed by FOCSIV and seven NGOs: As- sociazione Francesco Realmonte, Celim Milano, ENGIM Internazionale, Fonda- zione Internazionale Buon Pastore, FMSI - Fondazione Marista per la Solidarietà Internazionale, Associazione Punto Mis- sione and Social Promotion Foundation. humanity.focsiv.it/
ACCESS GROUP
Given the alarming number of incidents suffered by humanitarian personnel in the field and the growing interest of donors in the issue of the safety and protection of expatriate personnel, the Social Promotion Foundation has continued to support this issue. Thus, its Head of Security has been appointed Coordinator of the Security Group of the CONGDE, which already includes 15 NGOs, and has participated as part of the teaching staff in the Training Day that was organized on November 15, 2018, for NGOs, in the headquarters of OXFAM in Madrid. Likewise, the Consular Emergencies Course Abroad was held at the Diplomatic School from December 10 to 13 of that year.
SEmINARS
On September 13 and 14, 2018, the Foundation attended the meeting on the Iraqi-Syrian humanitarian crisis: “You did it for me”, promoted by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development of the Holy See. Held behind closed doors, and aimed at Catholic organizations involved in humanitarian aid in the Middle East, the objective was to promote reflection and evaluation on ongoing projects, analyze the limits and contradictions and create collaboration and coordination to be more effective in supporting the affected population.
