Fundación Real Madrid has developed his own model of sport school at ‘École Paradis D’enfants’ and ‘Mezyara Public School’, in Lebanon, from October 2016 to June 2017. The aim is to transmit a model of education deeply rooted in good values taking sports as the instrument.
This model consists on a training program headed by professional coaches who want to help each one of the participants, to look for a personal and social equilibrium. The program is completed whith pedagogical materials.
The training had activities such as the I Annual Football championship of the sport schools, which was hold in April and 10 football teams took part. ‘Mezyara Public School’ and ‘École Paradis D’enfants’ were second and third in the ranking. Living legends of Real Madrid football team visited the schools and were invited to the match.
Also, academic activities were developed such as the “educating for peace” project, which looked for the resolution of conflicts and civic education. This program was sponsored by Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). 125 students and 10 of their parents took part in medical checkouts, cultural visits, sports and artistic workshops (basketball, taekwondo, ballet, theater or visual arts).
The football coaches had shown such a great enthusiasm on the trainings that the improvement of the children in football is outstanding. And not only that, the academic results have been, with no doubt, better. The most obvious fact was the reduction on the truancy during the program.
We could also take as a positive consequence of this program that more girls were interested in football than before. 9 girls demonstrated a high interest on football and improved their skills during the trainings. They participate at the annual football championship in April and played against the girls of Sagesse High School. Now they are determined to keep on working to be champion next year.
