December 5 is International Volunteer Day, and on this day we want to give visibility to the work of many young people who, like Clara, Luisa, and Curro, carry out with us a leisure and accompaniment volunteering with the residents of the Barajas Occupational Center. Community of Madrid, during weekends.
Young professionals from Madrid have been carrying out this activity for four years, within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed with the CAM, and it was a request of the Madrid Social Assistance Agency because the Center that welcomes people with disabilities is in a Location of difficult communication in Barajas.
Curro, coordinator of this group of volunteers, along with Clara and Luisa, tells us:
“This volunteering is very necessary, since this Center, being near the airport, hinders the leisure and accompaniment activities of the residents.
They welcome us, always with great enthusiasm and eager to spend time doing something different. At the end of the activity, they always ask us if we will return the next day… And we always look forward to seeing each other again. ”
On this day, from the Foundation we also join the FEVOCAM #paragentequequiere campaign, dedicated to so many people, such as our volunteers, who want to change the lives of others, but what they really experience is a change in their own.
That is the value and greatness of volunteering, and Clara tells us:
