On March 10, from the Social Promotion Foundation we launched a new Project in Jordan that aims to address the temporary and structural gaps that women and young people face in this country when accessing the labor market and achieving their economic autonomy.
We developed this initiative in collaboration with our local partner Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The current proposal is based on a methodology that combines three key factors: social protection, skills acquisition and employment training. In this way, it aims to support and positively impact 160 women and young people living in the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq and Karak.
Focusing on financial inclusion and sustainability, this Project not only seeks to strengthen the skills of these women and young people so that they can increase their income and promote their capacity for adaptation and growth both on a personal and collective level, but also to establish a system screening and referral for abuse cases.
Coinciding with the launch of this initiative, Macarena Cotelo and Gema Talaván, Director and project technician of the Social Promotion Foundation respectively, have been in Jordan from March 11 to 16. During their trip, among other activities, they had the opportunity to visit the JOHUD headquarters, where they were received by Iman Al Hindawi, Director of Social Enterprise and Engagement & Coordinator of Social Initiatives.
There, Macarena and Gema participated in a workshop with a team of 16 people to share lessons learned and discuss and define issues related to the implementation of the new project. In addition, they were able to see the new JOHUD facilities and its community center, which has inclusive areas adapted to people with reduced mobility.
