This initiative, promoted by the Social Promotion Foundation, was born in order to awaken interest in the MUN in young women of school age in the Community of Madrid.
Through this innovative project, Social Promotion aims to promote the collective empowerment and participation of women in the political, economic and social life of our country.
Participation in these simulations, according to the Model United Nations (MUN), leads young people to get involved in the current problems of our world and to develop skills such as documentation, writing, public speaking, conflict resolution, consensus building, agreements and cooperation.
Its first edition is aimed at young people of 3rd and 4th grade of ESO and 1st Bachillerato.
The Social Promotion project promotes an active dialogue that promotes a citizenship that is guided by principles such as the defense of human rights, gender equality, defense of peace and environmental sustainability; dialogue with civil society and citizen participation, alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the 2030 international agenda of the United Nations (UN).
It seeks to alleviate the deficit of citizenship that has its origin in the lack of interest in politics and little identification with the system, the lack of commitment and civic values and the insufficient youth associations. As a result of this education we would tend to a society model with greater resources for coexistence, solidarity attitudes and greater knowledge of the global reality of which we are all part.
The presentation of YMM took place last Thursday, 23rd November, at the Municipal Board of the Retiro district.
It counted with the presence of Leticia García, social entrepreneur, and Victoria Suárez, director of the Pangea global platform community, both with experience in simulations of the United Nations.
