Today, Friday 16 October, we celebrate the World Food Day, with the claim “Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together.”
The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) proclaimed this day to raise awareness of the problem of food in the world and the need for greater efforts to combat problems such as hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
From Social Promotion Foundation we join this celebration and pay tribute to the #FoodHeroes, to all the people who with their hard work, manage to bring all kinds of food on our table, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion of the World Food Day, we want to put face and pay tribute to all the rights holders of our AECID-funded agreements on agricultural development, in the West Bank and Gaza in Palestine such as Rehab, Omeida and Mohammed, and in the Somali region in Ethiopia such as Asha.
They are true heroes and heroines and motors of development in the rural areas where we work, despite the great challenges they face and the context of the pandemic.
They are the protagonists, within the framework of our agreements, in the fight against hunger, the improvement of food security, the transition towards a sustainable agriculture and the resilience facing the climate crisis.
