This act is one of those scheduled, during this week, in the institutional trip that Jumana Trad and María Beamonte, President and General Director of Social Promotion Foundation respectively, are making in Egypt, to visit our projects, meet with our local partner AUEED, with the OTC in Egypt and with different local actors in this country.
Today the inauguration took place, at the Sag El Seyag school, in Luxor, of a community kitchen, within the framework of a project, financed by AECID, whose objective is to economically and socially empower vulnerable women so that they assume leadership positions in public spaces.
This kitchen will serve as the headquarters of AUEED for practical training in cooking for the inhabitants of local communities, young women in vulnerable situations and inhabitants of rural areas of the country.
It is a challenge for this project to promote employment, including self-employment and entrepreneurship, of these women and their participation in decision-making spaces in Menya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and Luxor.
For the Foundation, supporting the promotion of women to increase their social participation and their access to decision-making is one of their corporate objectives, considering that only in this way can true development in the world be achieved.
Prior to the cutting of the ribbon, by Jumana Trad, which declared the installation inaugurated, students from the Sag El Seyag school performed traditional dances for the occasion.
Jumana Trad and María Beamonte had the opportunity to congratulate Samah, one of the trainers hired to give the training, and they encouraged her for the important work she is going to do.
The institutional trip to Egypt of our President and our Director General began yesterday with meetings with AUEED and the OTC in Egypt, at their offices in Cairo, followed by a lunch with the Ambassador of Spain in Egypt.
