On February 16, the Social Promotion Foundation organized a meeting between EFA Piñeiral students who participate in our development education project “GOAL 2030: EFAs FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” within the framework of the agreements financed by AECID that we developed in Palestine and Ethiopia, with young coordinators of the Youth Mun Madrid (YMM) program.
The session took place in the Luz Vallekas space in Madrid. The students of the EFA Piñeiral traveled from La Coruña, and the young coordinators of YMM, Adrián and Isabella, participated remotely.
It was a meeting between young people from rural areas participating in the project “OBJECTIVE 2030: EFAS for sustainable development” together with young people from urban areas who participate in projects that enable reflection on the problems of our world.
The meeting was moderated by José Luis Zatarain, Director of Communication and Volunteering of the Social Promotion Foundation, who first gave the floor to María Beamonte, General Director .
On behalf of the Foundation, María Beamonte welcomed the young participants and their teachers. She warned them about the importance of the Foundation’s work, especially through the agrarian development agreements in Palestine and Ethiopia.
The students of this EFA have recently participated in a thematic exhibition, participatory, and which served as a framework for a reflection on the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
During the meeting, our Head of Mission in Ethiopia, Gerard Poch, participated, who was able to talk with the young people, tell them in first person the impact that the agreement is having for thousands of people in vulnerable situations, and answer their questions, engaging in a very fruitful dialogue.
In the second part of the session, Isabella and Adrián, young coordinators of the Social Promotion Foundation Youth MUN Madrid project, told first-hand about this initiative and engaged in a dialogue with the students of the EFA Piñeiral.
Youth MUN Madrid is a project of the Social Promotion Foundation, which, by replicating the United Nations debate model, promotes the construction of a global citizenry aware of the challenges of the 2030 Agenda and the inclusive and transversal engine of universal change, promoted by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
