Women trained in green economy and entrepreneurship drive post-pandemic recovery in Jordan

On October 15 and 29, 2023, a graduation ceremony was held in Irbid and Mafraq, Jordan, respectively, which served as a tribute to the women who have completed the green economy and entrepreneurship training programs, for their contribution to resilience, economic recovery and the fight against poverty in the country in response to COVID-19.

The events were attended by 50 and 47 participants respectively, among whom was the expatriate of the Social Promotion Foundation, Jorge Jiménez, as well as representatives of the local partner Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), and Community Development Center (CDC), Provincial Council in Irbid, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Jordan River Foundation (JRF) and Action Against Hunger, in addition to the women who have participated in this project financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and that has allowed this training.

The Project coordinator and the case manager began the event by addressing a warm welcome to the audience and highlighted the great importance of training in green economy and entrepreneurship skills for women, contributing to their empowerment and opening new opportunities for them in a world increasingly focused on sustainability.

The directors of the centers also highlighted the value of the training received and how the development of business skills and the promotion of entrepreneurship contribute to the progress of society as a whole, since it allows these women not only to improve their lives but also to have a positive impact. positively in the community.

The Project director spoke in detail about the activities and training carried out throughout the project, its stages and specific approaches. She also highlighted how the ability to adapt to the needs of each group, offering personalized attention to each participant, has allowed them to be provided with the necessary tools and knowledge to be able to launch their green economy businesses and get started in the world of entrepreneurship.

In addition, the presentation of some products of these women and their success stories generated new financing opportunities from IRC, as well as the possibility of creating a value chain with the organizations involved in the project, FPS and JOHUD.

The event, which ended with the delivery of certificates that accredit training in green economy and entrepreneurship, is, in this way, a celebration of the achievements of these women, for their contribution to economic recovery and the fight against poverty in amidst COVID-19, and highlights the power of education and empowerment to this end.
