Within the framework of the 2018 Social Promotion Foundation Agreement “Contribute to improving the resilience of vulnerable rural communities in West Bank and Gaza to enable their access to rights in a sustainable and equitable manner “, financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), three groups of rural women from the villages of Beit Fourik, Beit Dajan and Jama’een have received support from the Rural Women Development Society (RWDS), one of the Palestinian partners in the agreement, to initiate some activities that will help them to generate income and thus promote their social andeconomic development.
RWDS has assisted each of these groups by providing the raw materials or the means to obtain them, in order to start production.
Beit Fourik’s group of 13 women produces wool clothing and has already produced garments for babies, The 8 women members of the Beit Dajan group do embroidery, and the group of Jama’een consists of 4 women who make hay baskets.
In addition, for the near future, RWDS will help these groups to display their products on the local market through exhibitions. The women will also be involved in the marketing of the products. In addition, newly formed groups will have to obtain licences and register in any possible legal form, such as registration with chambers of commerce or others.
