We participate in the International Women’s Day celebration in Zarqa (Jordan)

On March 10th, we participated in the event commemorating International Women’s Day held in Zarqa (Jordan), organized by the Spanish Embassy in Jordan, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the Platform of Spanish NGOs in Jordan.  The event was attended by the Spanish Ambassador to Jordan, Miguel de Lucas González, who emphasized the importance of continuing to promote gender equality as a fundamental pillar of development and social justice.

Stories of Resilience and Empowerment

As part of the event, a roundtable discussion titled “Voices of Empowerment” was held, featuring several women who shared their experiences in community leadership, activism, and entrepreneurship. Among them was Shadia Obiedat, a beneficiary of the project we are carrying out in Jordan with funding from AECID and in collaboration with JOHUD. She spoke about her experience working in traditional embroidery, a craft that has allowed her to generate income for her family and pay for her daughter’s college education.  In addition, the event featured an interactive theatrical performance on women’s empowerment by a youth group from Mafraq, as well as an exhibition showcasing women-led self-employment initiatives.

Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Our Foundation’s participation in this event is part of the project “Resilient Jordanian Women and Youth in the Face of Poverty and Multidimensional Crises Promote an Economic Recovery Free from Violence,” funded by the AECID. This initiative aims to strengthen the economic and social capacities of women and youth in the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, and Karak by promoting their access to financial resources and preventing gender-based violence. Through these actions, we continue working to advance the creation of a more just and equitable future for women in Jordan.
