#Aquiporti, this is the name of the campaign that a group of students from the University of Navarra promoted just a year ago as a solidarity response to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, which occurred in February 2023 and is estimated which affected more than 50 million people in both countries.
Through the sale of solidarity bracelets and in collaboration with Tantaka, these students managed to raise funds to deliver humanitarian aid to two local NGOs: AHBAP and Yadn bi Yad (YbY) (in Turkey and Syria, respectively).
Among the young promoters of this solidarity initiative was Clara Jazmati, a student at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters who also collaborated with the Social Promotion Foundation as a volunteer in our Department of Communication and Projects in June 2023. Together with her colleagues , Clara presented the #Aquiporti campaign and explained in this video how the funds would be directed to cover the specific needs identified by the two local entities.
Once the campaign is over, the Foundation, always committed to communities affected by conflicts and natural disasters, has been able to send the funds raised to Yadn bi Yad (YbY). Thus, this NGO, located in Aleppo, has been able to assist several people with disabilities, including boys and girls, by distributing mobility aids and basic necessities. These actions are especially important, considering that the Syrian population, in addition to dealing with the consequences of the earthquake, continues to face the ravages of war.
It should be noted that the Social Promotion Foundation had previously worked with this Syrian entity through two Convenios financed by the AECID: the 2006-2011 Agreement to improve care for people with disabilities in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt, and the 2010-2015 to improve the social integration of people with disabilities in the Middle East through accessibility.
